Carlos E. Alvarez is Of Counsel to The Legal Team, PLLC, where he serves as a skilled litigator and commercial attorney.  With a focus on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration, Carlos provides comprehensive general counsel services to small and medium-sized businesses, offering strategic advice on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters.  His expertise lies in handling business torts and contractual issues, as well as representing receivers in both state and federal courts.

Carlos has significant experience in various industries, including hospitality, insurance, telecommunications, real estate, and banking.  He adeptly manages highly contested matters involving substantial financial stakes and multiple parties across Florida’s state and federal courts, successfully arguing cases in the Complex Business Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and conducting oral arguments at the Third District Court of Appeal.

Prior to his current role, Carlos served as an associate at a prominent Florida law firm, where he handled a diverse array of federal and state court cases, including commercial and bankruptcy litigation.  His experience encompasses taking and defending depositions, successfully mediating numerous cases, and extensive motion practice.  Carlos has significant experience representing receivers in both state and federal courts, navigating complex legal issues and ensuring the effective management of assets and liabilities.

As an active member of the legal community, Carlos belongs to several organizations, including the Florida Bar, Colombian Bar Association, Miami International Arbitration Society, and the Dade County Bar Association.  He frequently publishes and speaks on topics related to international arbitration, cryptocurrency, regulatory and governmental issues, cannabis law, and artificial intelligence demonstrating his commitment to staying at the forefront of emerging legal trends.

Carlos earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, and L.L.M. in International Arbitration from the University of Miami School of Law.  During his time in law school, he served as editor-in-chief of the International Comparative Law Review and vice president of the Hispanic Law Student Association.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and French, magna cum laude, from St. John’s University in 2014.  A native of Colombia, Carlos is fluent in Spanish and English, and proficient in French.  His diverse background and dedication to his clients ensure that he provides exceptional legal representation and counsel, tailored to meet the unique needs of each business he serves.
